THE BEADS
The beads that I sell are Chinese lampwork beads...
They are handmade, however mass produced...

Lampwork beads and how they are made.....
If you aren't familiar with lampwork beads you're in for a treat. These handcrafted, glass beads have incredible depth, and the artisans all bring a different "look" to their work. Embedded flowers and other designs, beads with intricate surface work, beads that resemble hand marbling, vessels that hold a few drops of essential oil--the designs are as varied as the artists who create them. Lampwork beads are made by using a torch to heat a rod of glass and spinning the resulting thread around a metal rod covered in bead release. When the base bead has been formed, other colors of glass can be added to the surface to create many designs. After this initial stage of the beadmaking process, the bead can be further fired in a kiln to make it more durable.
The Pewter Beads
All pewter beads, toggle clasps, charms and other findings are lead-free...made with attention to detail....
Bali sterling silver beads...How they are made...

Most silver used in Bali is mined in other parts of Indonesia. They start by weighing 100 grams of the refined silver, and add 5 grams of copper. The end product of this mixture is around 95% silver. The refined silver/copper mixture is heated until it is liquid. It's then poured into a steel "mold" to create silver bars. The bars are then hammered to smooth out all the bumps and unevenness, and remove some of the impurities which reside on the surface. From these silver bars will come the three essential bead-making ingredients? Every single Bali Silver Bead you can get your hands on is made using two or three of these "ingredients. They are flat silver pressed into long strips, very small silver balls of varying sizes and silver wire. After the beads have been completed, they'll be oxidized. The oxidation turns them completely black. They are then polished in a tumbler to get them nice and shiny.

Kazuri African Beads:
Kazuri beads are each shaped, painted and kiln fired by tribal women from the clay of Mt. Kenya, Africa. The resulting beads are durable, beautiful, high-quality, and very special, with each one being different. They are made under an International Fair Trade Agreement and their sale helps support disadvantaged children.
